Yesterday, Miss Kaboodle was still under the weather. We had both spent the night on the sofa, cuddled up watching movies because as soon as she would nod off, she would wake up coughing and spluttering.
It’s only fair to say that we both had a pretty rough night. When the morning came, I could still tell that she wasn’t right when she turned down a piece of toast with Nutella! She really was cream crackered but, with it being the first proper day of no rain in what feels like forever, I had to get to town to pick up some bits and bobs.
We got dressed and left as early as we could because I wanted to avoid big crowds of people and long queues. We got there, went where we needed to go and came home again, we we’re only out for about an hour and half. Most of time Willow was asking to come home. She just wasn’t herself. It’s horrible to see her so unenthusiastic about being out and about, she loves going down town and visiting all the shops! She did pick up on my Motherly Sorry Feeling because she was putting things in the basket and I was letting her have them! I know, I know, I shouldn’t but I just couldn’t help myself! Besides, I purposely let her put them in and cleverly side-tracked her with a Surprise Egg when we got home and I stashed everything away with the rest of her Christmas Gifts! Unbeknownst to her, she just finished off her stocking shopping! (At least I know she’s going to like it all, eh?)
Anyway! Once we were home and had eaten some lunch, I sorted out a whole new card game for Willow. Again, I wanted something that would keep her happily entertained but not overly active because of her being under the weather! I also wanted to get something educational under our belt, it’s been a while since we did something with a bit of learning involved so I decided a new set of cards was the way to go!
Shape Match Cards!
I have inserted this image with full size dimensions.
Please feel free to save the photo and print it out for your little ones!
You’re free to print it as many times as you like but if you do share it on your blog,
a little link to KaboodleMum would be lovely!
This was super easy to do, after creating the image with good old Microsoft paint,
I then printed them out,
Once they were printed out, I cut out the individual cards and we set about playing!
I didn’t want to keep Willow out the dining room while we played since it is the coldest room in the house so I kept her in the living room and we played for a little while. I do have a video that’s currently being sorted out that I will upload onto the KaboodleMum YouTube channel! I will update when its on there!
As for how playtime went, it was a lot of fun! We spent about 15 minutes playing and Willow got bored which initially annoyed me because I’d wanted her to play for a little while longer. About 5 minutes after she stopped playing with the cards, she started throwing things around the living room and I just knew that she had reached a level of tiredness that brought out her inner monster.
It’s funny, even though she is much older now and never sleeps in the day, that motherly instinct never goes. It was like having a 1 year old, you know they’re tired and need a nap because they’ve just pulled out all the DVD’s kind of thing… Willow threw her LeapPad which is something she would never normally do and I was like “you need a nap, Miss!”
So, I loaded up a recording of Madagascar on the TV, got a blankie and her dummy and tucked her in tight on the sofa. She was asleep before Marti had left the Zoo! I didn’t mind, she needed the sleep and I needed the quiet so I grabbed my crochet and hooked up a hat while I sat and watched Madagascar next my snotty, snoring, sleeping beauty.
It wasn’t exactly what I had planned but it turned out to be exactly what we needed!
As always, thanks for reading! If you do print out the image, let me know how your little one got on with it an whether or not they enjoyed it!
Stay tuned for the video!
